Man and child rescued after pickup swept into overflowing Grand River

GRANDVILLE, MI — A man and child were rescued from a pickup that was swept into overflowing Grand River waters.

The rescue happened in the early evening hours of Wednesday, April 5 along Indian Mounds Drive SW, near Grandville.

Kent County sheriff’s deputies said the truck driver was on Indian Mounds Drive, not far from Wilson Avenue, and drove into about six inches of water over the road. The truck was then swept into deeper water.

The pickup floated for about a half-mile before the man and child were rescued.
