UPDATE 21 fire crews responded to large grass fire in Chautauqua County
CEDAR VALE, Kan. (KWCH) – Update: Fire crews reported Sunday’s grass fire in Chautauqua County was caused by a controlled burn out of Grainola, Oklahoma. © Provided by Wichita-Hutchinson Plus KWCH-DT Kansas Forest Service There were no reported injuries or damage to any structures. However, the grass fire did require a collective effort from 21 fire departments. “It’s been a tremendous effort. The majority of these guys are volunteers, so they gave up their Sunday to help a lot of people today,” said Scott Walker, a resident in Chautauqua County and a volunteer firefighter.
