Portland councilor Army veteran calls on service members to reject Portland military deployment Oregon Public Broadcasting OPB

U.S. District Court Judge Karin Immergut heard arguments Friday over whether to issue a temporary restraining order blocking President Donald Trump’s deployment of the Oregon National Guard in Portland.

The Department of Homeland Security identified the individuals shot as Venezuelan gang members. The federal defender first told OPB that the allegations are “a well-worn playbook.”

State leaders say they’ve received a letter from federal officials authorizing Oregon National Guard members to “perform federal functions” for 60 days.
