Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and former Rhode Island Attorney General and U.S. Attorney, today released the following statement after former president Donald Trump surrendered to prosecutors in New York:
“The beauty of the American justice system is that the law applies equally to everyone – even former presidents – and everyone has the right to a fair proceeding free of intimidation or outside influence.”
The former president was indicted on 34 criminal counts.
