Authorities shoot kill standoff suspect

WALNUT GROVE, Tennessee — A chase that began in Florence ended in Hardin County, Tennessee, when an officer shot and killed the suspect who was holding a woman hostage inside his vehicle, authorities said. Authorities have not released the identity of the suspect, but Lauderdale County Sheriff Joe Hamilton said a law enforcement officer shot him sometime around 9 a.m. The suspect had a weapon and pointed it at the female hostage and at himself during the standoff, Hamilton said.
