Federal agents fire tear gas make multiple arrests during protest outside Portland ICE facility Oregon Public Broadcasting OPB

Multiple nationwide organizations called for businesses to close and for people to walk out of school and work Friday to protest mass deportations and violence against demonstrators.

The secretary arrived at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Portland just after noon Tuesday. Portland police officers had blocked off streets and cordoned off observers and protesters.

Attorneys representing the firefighter said they have not been able to locate him since he landed in federal custody.
