UNITED STATES of America, Plaintiff – Appellee v. Jonathan Daniel ROONEY, Defendant – Appellant On May 16, 2020, Kozee Decorah was murdered on the Winnebago Reservation in Nebraska. Jonathan Rooney was charged with second degree murder and tampering with evidence related to Decorah’s death. A jury acquitted Rooney of the murder charge but found him guilty of voluntary manslaughter, a lesser-included offense, and tampering with evidence. The district court  sentenced Rooney to a total term of 300 months’ imprisonment.
