Navy seeking 195M to build new substations at PSNS
BREMERTON — A project at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, known as the “Shipyard Electrical Backbone” and estimated to cost $195 million, was listed as part of the Department of the Navy’s FY 2024 President’s budget, the government announced in March. According to documents the Navy submitted to Congress, called the FY 2024 Military Construction Program, an estimated $195 million in spending includes constructing the shipyard electrical backbone for $85,470,000, supporting facilities for $88,910,000, a five-percent contingency for $8,720 and Supervision, Inspection and Overhead (SIOH) for $11,900.
