Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders injured in Sunday crash near Yelm office says

Apr. 2 — Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders was injured in a traffic collision Sunday, according to a statement from his office. The two-car collision occurred at 3:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office said. Sanders was driving his department vehicle south on on Lawrence Lake Road Southeast. “A pickup truck, traveling east on 153rd Avenue Southeast, pulled in front of (Sanders),” the statement said. Sanders was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The statement from the sheriff’s office said he was in satisfactory condition.
